Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro has reiterated that his target is to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
Peseiro was appointed Coach of the three-time African champions in May, and has begun duties with friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador.
The Super Eagles lost both games, however, the outcome were inconsequential as both games served as an opportunity for the 62-year-old to assess his team.
Nigeria’s next game will be the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone on Thursday and Peseiro has expressed confidence in the quality of talent at his disposal.
The former Braga man met with the Minister of Sports Sunday Dare, and the Portuguese tactician assured the Minister that with the quality at his disposal, he would lead the three-time African champions to another silverware on the continent.
“I came here for one goal, I want to win the next AFCON for my fantastic players and for Nigerians”, Peseiro said, as per OgaNla Media.
“I am confident because I believe in this team, I believe in the quality and the number of good players.
“I have followed Nigeria’s history in football from the 1994 and other successful teams and I want to bring back that joy again.”
Nigeria will be seeking for their first win under the tutelage of Peseiro when they square off against the Leone Stars at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja.
