Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, says his biggest regret is not calling his playing career off in the Serie A with Juventus.
Drogba spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge and won 11 major honours, before returning for a short second spell as Chelsea looked to a familiar face to solve their striking issues.
However, since his departure, Chelsea’s attacking problem has remained unresolved with the recent search for a Drogba-like striker forcing the club to send Romelu Lukaku on loan to Inter Milan.
Recall that the Belgian earlier this week returned to Italy on a ten-month loan deal after his €113m permanent transfer to Chelsea.
Drogba, who has now sent a message to Lukaku upon his arrival at Inter, insisted that he regrets not playing in the Italian top-flight.
“Serie A is not short of great strikers and I wish the best of luck to my friend Lukaku,” Drogba said during the Global Youth Tourism Summit in Sorrento.
“In the end, nothing happened, but I could have ended my career at Juventus. Years before, I had been in talks with Inter. I was happy at my club [Chelsea], so I decided to stay, but I have some regrets. I would have loved to play in Serie A. I think I could have scored some goals there.”
During Drogba’s lengthy spell at Chelsea, the Ivorian scored 164 goals in 381 appearances for the west London club.
