Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he would love to play beyond the set duration of his current contract at AC Milan after the Swede signed a new one-year deal with the Rossenneris on Thursday.
The legendary striker, who turns 40 in October, rejoined Milan for a second time in December 2019 following a successful spell with LA Galaxy in MLS.
He extended his initial six-month deal by a year in August 2020, and has now signed the dotted lines again.
Ibrahimovic, who is in his third spell with the Italian giants, has scored 17 goals in 25 matches in all competitions this season, having marked over 500 career goals in February.
“I’ve always said playing for AC Milan is like being at home,” said Ibrahimovic.
“I am really happy with how the club makes me feel. I would stay for the rest of my life if I could.”
Ibrahimovic made his debut for Malmo in 1999 before stints at Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris St-Germain and Manchester United.
Ibrahimovic’s career has seen him achieve a landmark of being the only player to score on his Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Champions League debuts.
He is also the only player to have scored 50 Serie A goals for both AC Milan and Inter Milan.
The Sweden international was close to leading his Milan side to their first Serie A title in 10 years but the San Siro giants soon fell off the radar to neigbours and leaders, Inter Milan, who sits aloft with 10 points difference.
