The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Friday inaugurated new members of the Nigerian Content Development And Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The ACTU was established by the ICPC in October 2001 as one of the implementation mechanisms for its mandate on prohibition and prevention of corruption, especially in the public service.
ACTUs are rooted in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and operate as autonomous outfits with functional linkages in the office of the Chief Executives of the MDAs.
The Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote (FNSE, FIPS) in his welcome address commended the ICPC for having ACTU in MDAs. He urged all staff of the Board to give full support to ACTU-NCDMB and charged the newly inaugurated members to be beacons of light & maintain high moral standards.
Engr. Wabote assured ACTU-NCDMB of his total support and urged them to carry out their activities without any inhibitions.
The local content boss went on to congratulate the chairman and members of ACTU-NCDMB.
In a goodwill message, the ICPC Chairman Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, represented by Mrs Ekere Usiere urged the new members of ACTU-NCDMB to be responsible in the discharge of their duties.
“Your goal is to achieve total success,” he charged members, adding that they should not witch-hunt other staff of the Board.
On his part, Dr. Ginah O. Ginah who is the General Manager, Corporate Communication & Zonal Coordination NCDMB and outgoing Chairman, ACTU-NCDMB, thanked the ES, staff of the Board and the ICPC for the support given them during his tenure.
He also thanked ACTU-NCDMB members for the maximum commitment & tenacity during their tenure.
Delivering his acceptance speech, the new ACTU-NCDMB Chairman, Dr Akintunde Adelana who is also the Director, Monitoring & Evaluation, NCDMB, thanked the ES, NCDMB & the ICPC for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. He promised to be firm & continue from where his predecessor stopped.
The chairman of the new ACTU-NCDMB is Dr. Akintunde Adelana. Other members include Seleke-Ere Owoupele, Ademola Kaka, Fateema Mohammed, Suleiman Ozimede and Ilu Ozekhome.
