A Nigerian Soldier from 120 Battalion in Goniri, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, Lance Corporal Umar, has allegedly brutalised the Head Teacher of Afunori Primary School Goniri, Mr. Saleh Ibrahim for blocking an illegal route leading to the school.
The head teacher who was humiliated by the soldiers in the presence of his pupils and almost lost an eye to the incident, had ordered the closure of a route in the school after the pupils made the broken fence a site for open defecation.
The soldier who was angered because he was stopped from following the same route blocked by the school management, had insisted that he must pass through the road, after which a disagreement and subsequent assault ensued.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT has ordered an investigation into the matter.
