Nollywood veteran, Pete Edochie has advised women not to divorce husbands who cheat but to rather use creative means to discourage their husbands from cheating.
The movie star made this known in a now circulated video on Monday, March 14, 2021, via his Instagram page while addressing issues surrounding infidelity and polygamy in Nigerian marriages.
The 73-year-old actor shared an interesting piece of advice to women dealing with cheating husbands. in which he advised women to put protection (condom) in the bag of a suspected cheating husband.
He said:
“If you think the husband is leaving the house to go and have an affair outside, put a packet of condom in his pocket. Psychologically, he’s gonna think, ‘this woman has my interest at heart,
“If it is his intention to stray, he’ll pull himself together.”
He also spoke on the issue of submission in marriage saying married women are no longer submissive to their husbands.
He said, “If you drop your father’s name to answer the name of your husband, you are bound to be submissive to him. How can a woman go out of the house in the morning, come back in the night reeking of alcohol and the husband demands to know why she is late in coming home and what does she say? “If you know what is good for you, just get out of my way let me go, and sleep.”
“They can afford to say that today because the men of today are very weak. If she said it in our own time, she will never be in one piece again and I mean every word of what I am saying.”
Pete also advised couples to discard the idea of divorce saying its doesn’t play out well for Nigerian women as it seems they are only ‘copying white women’.
A year ago, the respected movie star also stirred a controversy about marriage and relationships when he kicked against the idea of Nigerian men getting down on their knees to propose to women.
