Nigeria’s football star, Odion Ighalo is hopeful that his club side, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, wil upset European Champions Real Madrid and win this year’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Ighalo who spoke ahead of the encounter, is of the believe that the Saudi Arabia side are capable springing surprises, after getting to this stage of the tournament.
Both Real Madrid and Al Hilal cruised to final, after lashing their opponents.
While Madrid whitewashed Al Ahly of Egypt 4-1 in Wednesday’s night semi-final encounter, Al Hilal, an Arab football club upset COMEBOL Champions, Flamengo of Argentina 3-2 in the other semi-final clash.
They will now face-off in the final on Saturday February 11 in Rabat Morocco.
The competition for long has been dominated by European clubs, with Chelsea winning the last edition in 2022.
However, Al Ahly are winners of the Bronze medal matches, in 2006, 2019 and 2021; and the Red Devils will now hope to finish the 2023 tournament in Morocco on a high when taking on Flamingo of Brazil in the losers final.
Ighalo moved from Manchester United to Saudi Arabia and has been banging goals.
