Kelechi Iheanacho’s reignited his scoring form against Newcastle in the Premier League on Friday as Leicester City’s pursuit of a top-four finish took another blow.
The Foxes fell 4-2 at home to Steve Bruce’s men to go just two points clear of 4th placed Chelsea, who have a game at hand.
Iheanacho grabbed Leicester’s second goal in the 87 minutes after cutting from the right before hitting a low strike into the bottom corner.
It was Iheanacho’s 11th goal in 22 Premier League appearances this season and his 18th strike in all competitions in the current campaign.
Also, he has now scored 10 Premier League goals since the start of March, the most of any player.
His consistent form has earned him yet another nomination – the Premier League Player of the Month for April, having won it in the previous month.
Brendan Rodgers men have now failed to pick maximum points in their last two games following last week’s 1-1 draw at Southampton.
They remain in third position on 63 points with three games left to play but could drop to fourth if Chelsea beat Manchester City on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Foxes may not be finding the route easier as they have very difficult last three fixtures, two away games to Manchester United, Chelsea and an home tie against Tottenham Hotspur.
