Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of claiming a second successive Premier League Player of the Month award after being nominated for April.
Iheanacho, who won the award in March following his outstanding performance for Leicester City, continued with his remarkable form in April as he notched up 4 goals and provided two assists to help the Foxes maintain their spot in the top 4.
The 24-year-old became the fourth Nigerian, after Austin Okocha, Osaze Odenwingie and Odion Ighalo, to win the award after he won it in March.
The other players in contention for the April award are Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Jesse Lingard (West Ham), Matheus Pereira (West Brom), Alan Saint-Maximin (Newcastle United), Chris Wood (Burnley) and Stuart Dallas (Leeds).
So far, Iheanacho has scored 9 goals in his last 7 Premier League games as he looks to become the first Nigerian Player to win the accolade back to back.
The Foxes will welcome Newcastle United on Friday as race for next season’s Champions League spot intensifies. And it’s no fluke to say Leicester City would be in dire need of Iheanacho’s firepower to keep them on course.
