Leicester City produced a five-star performance against Sheffield United as Kelechi Iheanacho grabbed his first Premier League hattrick in a 5 – 0 demolition of the Blades on Sunday.
Sheffield United began the season on a wrong note which saw them sit at the bottom of the League table for months and on Saturday, the club announced the departure of Chris Wilder, who spent over four years at Bramall lane.
The Blades came into the encounter on the back of a 2 – 0 defeat to Southampton but hopes of returning into winning ways under interim boss Paul Hecking was blown away by the hosts as Brendan Rodger’s men continued their pursuit of a Champions League spot this season.
Iheanacho had put Leicester City up in the 39th minute thanks to Jamie Vardy’s assist. That strike ensured he scored in three consecutive English elite division appearances for the first time.
Ayoze Perez doubled his side’s advantage in the 64th minute after capitalising on some good work from Marc Albrighton before the Nigeria international got his second of the evening.
Iheanacho then completed his treble in the 78th minute benefitting from a Wilfred Ndidi assist. The striker was allowed too much time to take a shot past helpless Ramsdale.
The 24-year-old has now been directly involved in 51 goals (37 goals, 14 assists) in 76 starts in all competitions, for Manchester City and Leicester City combined, since his move to England.
The result Leicester moved into second place, above Manchester United, who face West Ham later in this evening.
