Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze resumed training with his Villarreal teammates after spending two months on the sidelines due to injury.
The Nigerian international suffered a season ending injury in the Yellow Submarine’s Europa League semi-final clash with Premier League club Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in April.
Chukwueze, who played a key role in Villarreal’s Europa League campaign, consequently missed the final against Manchester United as a result of the setback.
Meanwhile, ahead of the new season, the pacy winger took to social media to announce his return to training.
“Work in progress,” he wrote on his Facebook wall.
Chukwueze joined the Spanish giants shortly after impressing for Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup when he helped the Golden Eaglets win the title.
Last season, the former Diamond Football Academy scored five times in 40 matches as Villarreal ended as the Europa League champions.
The 22-year-old will hope to regain full fitness before Villarreal’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Chelsea at the Windsor Park, Belfast on August 11.
Chelsea lifted the Champions League in May after a 1-0 victory over Manchester City. While Villarreal clinched Europa League glory, thanks to a 11-10 penalty shootout win against Manchester United.
