Injured Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar will on Thursday September 15, 2022 undergo surgery procedure, his new Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad has confirmed.
The forward sustained a season-ending injury on Sunday when Real Sociedad played against Getafe in which they ended up losing 2-1.
He was confirmed to have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament which automatically ruled him out of the season.
The club on Tuesday announced that the surgery will take place in Gastiez, Heritage Times HT reports.
“Sadiq Umar will undergo surgery for the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee by Dr Mikel Sánchez next Thursday, September 15, in Gasteiz”, the club confirmed.
Umar opened his goal account for the club when he netted an equalizer against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
He had moved from old club – Almeria to the current side around deadline summer transfer period.
