The Co-Conveners of the Bring Back Our Girls group, Oby Ezekwesili has appealed to the United States to help rescue over 300 schoolboys abducted by bandits at Kankara town in Katsina State.
Making the appeal during an interview with CNN on Tuesday, the former Minister of Education said it has become obvious that President Buhari cannot govern Nigeria, adding that the nation presently lacks responsive leadership.
While expressing faith in the capability of the United States to rescue the abducted boys, Ezekwesili cited the recent rescue of an abducted American in Nigeria by US special forces as an attestation of the US capacity in such operations.
“We were here in October when the united states came into Nigeria to rescue one of her citizens that was abducted by terrorists. They should do everything to help us recover abducted 333 school children just as they did to their citizen,” she said.
It would be recalled that More than 100 gunmen on motorcycles stormed the rural school north of Kankara town in Katsina State, forcing students to flee and hide in the surrounding bush.
Following the unfortunate incident, over 300 schoolboys were confirmed missing while Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attack in what appears to be a major expansion of the jihadist group’s activities into new areas.
“I am Abubakar Shekau and our brothers are behind the kidnapping in Katsina,” the leader of Boko Haram said in a voice message.
