Ahead of an international friendly match against Costa Rica’s men senior national team, Super Eagles Coach Salisu Yusuf has selected only home-based players for the encounter scheduled for November 9, 2022.
Though Nigeria failed to qualify for this year’s World Cup, Costa Rica, a Central American side is using the game as a tune-up to the mundial which kicks off later in November at Qatar.
Among those that will prosecute the match, are goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, utility player Dominion Ohaka and midfielder Afeez Nosiru as part of an 18-man squad to feature for Nigeria against the A team of Costa Rica in San Jose next week Wednesday.
Also, the Nigerian coach picked goalkeepers Bankole and Nathaniel Nwosu (U23 team first choice), defenders – Daniel Bameyi, Chidiebere Nwobodo and Evans Ogbonda, midfielders – Nosiru and Qudus Akanni as well as forwards – Sunday Faleye and Edidiong Ezekiel, among others.
The game, scheduled for the National Stadium in San Jose, will kick off at 8pm Costa Rica time, which is 3am, November 10 in Nigeria.
The Nigeria team has been training at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo state for the past week, and is scheduled to fly out of the country to Costa Rica on Saturday November 5 in an adjustment travel arrangement.
The team was earlier scheduled to depart two days ago.
