N’Golo Kante admits turning down a move to Paris Saint-Germain at the time the French club was being managed by his current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
PSG were looking forward to sign the two-time Premier League champion due to his excellent form at Chelsea that saw him win the League and soon added to his trophy cabinet an FA Cup title in the following year under Antonio Conte.
Tuchel, who took over as PSG boss in the summer of 2018 had claimed he tried to sign Kante during his time at the Parc des Princes but snubbed the move as he was happy with life at Chelsea.
“I knew in the past there was some contact with Paris Saint-Germain when he was the manager, but it was not something I wanted. Kante told Chelsea official website. “It did not happen because I was happy at Chelsea and I stayed here. I haven’t spoken to the manager about it!”
Since joining the Blues for £33million in the summer of 2016 after that shocking Premier League title win with Leicester City, Kante has made over 200 appearances for Chelsea and been a key figure in their midfield.
The French saw a couple of games under Frank Lampard, before the English man was sacked in January leading to the sudden appointment of Tuchel, who was also shown the exit door at PSG.
The German has since enjoyed an excellent start to life at Stamford Bridge, going unbeaten in his nine games in charge with six victories along the way.
Meanwhile, Kante has featured sparingly during his spell having missed Tuchel’s first game in charge against Wolves but he was handed a starting role in the two most recent Premier League clashes with Southampton and Manchester United.
