America has chosen Democrat Joe Biden as its 46th president.
The President-elect defeated incumbent Donald Trump a vicious and bitterly fought election campaign.
Biden who turns 78 at the end of this month, has promised to adopt a more empathetic and scientific approach to the Covid-19 pandemic, and pledged to stabilize American politics after four years of Donald Trump’s White House chaos.
He will become America’s oldest president upon his inauguration in January 2021.
Meanwhile, President Trump has vowed to put up a good fight with a view to overturning the result in courts.
The president who has been making series of statements from the white house claimed he would have “easily won” if only “legal votes” were counted.
He blames his loss of re-election bid on postal vote “fraud” and dishonest counting practices, stressing that there were irregularitiesies in various states even though he had no evidence to back his claims.
