Barcelona wrapped off the year with a 1 – 1 draw against Eibar in the La Liga as their captain Lionel Messi watched from the stand.
Ousmane Dembele had scored an equalizer for the Catalans 10 minutes after Kike gave the visitors the lead.
One of the brighter lights for Barcelona was Junior Firpo, only playing because of Jordi Alba‘s suspension. He was frustrated post-game in his comments, carried by Marca.
Antoine Griezmann and Martin Braithwaite led the attack in the absence of Lionel Messi who is injured but neither could make a difference all through the game.
Braithwaite even got a chance in the opening minutes of the game through the spot but he failed to convert the penalty in the eighth minute.
His other effort in the encounter was ruled out for offside but the introduction of Dembele in the second half saved Ronald Koeman’s blushes. Junior said after the game and reported by Daily Mail: “We need a thousand chances to score.
They [Eibar] had one clear chance and scored. It’s the trend of the season. The games are tough and it’s all uphill.”
Ronald Koeman’s men now occupies the 6th position on the log, seven points behind leaders Atlectico Madrid who have 32 points with two outstanding matches.
