Jupiter and Saturn, the two largest planets in the solar system, will appear side by side in the sky Monday night for the first time in almost 800 years.
Both Titanic planets are some of the brightest objects in the sky this time of year, and for the last few weeks, these two points of light have gotten closer and closer.
It’s been nearly eight centuries since the pair of planets appeared this close together in the night sky.
In 1623, a similar conjunction of the planets occurred, but on the same side of the sky as the sun; that meant the conjunction wasn’t visible from Earth.
The titanic planets “will appear just a tenth of a degree apart,” which is equivalent to the thickness of a dime, according to NASA.
The last time Jupiter and Saturn had such a close pairing was in July 1623.
