After a 41-year wait, Aston Villa have finally qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
This is after Tottenham succumbed to a crucial Manchester City defeat on Tuesday night.
The last Villa made known impact at the continental level was in the 1982/83 season when they last qualified for the then European Cup.
The Villa Club actually won it in 1981/82 season.
About 10 years after, when the European Cup rebranded to Champions League, Villa made attempt to qualify but they couldn’t after they finished second on the log.
Incidentally, only the league winners were considered good enough to compete at the Champions League.

In 1995/96 season, Villa also finished fourth, yet they couldn’t make it to Europe.
Spurs Undoing
Tottenham had been the only team who could have overtaken Villa into fourth before Tuesday, but are now five points behind Unai Emery’s side with one game remaining.
City Cruise
Meanwhile, Arsenal hopes of clinching the Premier League title this term has almost varnished after Manchester City confidently defeated Tottenham.
Erling Haaland got two goals that eventually nailed Spurs.
Come Sunday, City could win EPL four times consecutively if they beat West Ham.
For Arsenal, they might have a mountain to climb against Everton.
