Nigerian sprint sensation and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, on Wednesday night raced to a third consecutive 100m hurdles triumph at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Amusan had an easy win, clocking a time of 12.89s (-2.1).
With the win, Amusan completed a hat-trick of African Games titles, having won the last two editions in Congo Brazzaville.
She also defeated Sidonie Fiadanantsoa, who ran 13.19s to finish second, and Zimbabwe’s Ashley Tinashe Kamangirirain, who ran 13.59s.
Heritage Times (HT) reports that with the victory, Amusan extends her record of being the only athlete to have won it more than twice.

The second Nigerian athlete in the race, Faith Osamuyi, missed out on a podium finish as she ran 13.77s in 4th place.
Later, Amusan anchored the Nigerian women’s 4x100m to gold again at the African Games in Ghana, absolutely destroying the field in a time of 43.06s.
She combined with Justina Eyakpobeyan, Olajide Olayinka, and Fore Abinusawa to bring the country home in glory.
Liberia, who were the fastest in qualifying, and Ghana were no match for the Nigerian team.
