Global football governing body, FIFA, on Friday awarded Brazil the hosting right for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This was disclosed by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, after the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok voted for Brazil ahead of the joint bid by Belgium, Netherlands and Germany as the host country for the event.
Brazil will also become the first South American country to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

How The Votes Were Decided
For the first time, an open vote was available to all 211 member associations – bar the four host bid federations – to decide who would host the next instalment of the tournament and out of the 197 votes lodged, Brazil won with 119 votes compared to BNG’s 78.
Brazil proposed 10 host cities for the June 24 to July 25 tournament, with Rio de Janeiro’s Estadio do Marcana to host both the opening match and final with room for 73,000 fans.
The women’s tournament in Brazil, will follow the same 32 team format as was used in the 2023 edition in Australia and New Zealand.
Spain are the reigning champions after defeating England in the final.
