England on Sunday November 13, 2022 emerged Cricket Champions by beating Pakistan in an incredible T20 World Cup final.
It was 30 years after losing the 50-over ODI World Cup final to Pakistan at the same venue that England turned the tables on the South Asian side with brilliant death bowling and Ben Stokes’s heroics.
With all-rounder Sam Curran recording a miserly 3-12, Pakistan collapsed in the final overs to finish on a below-par 137 for eight after being sent in to bat by England captain Jos Buttler.
At the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, Ben Stokes further wrote himself further into the folklore of English cricket by finishing on 52 not out
And it means is that England are the first team to be world champions in both 20 over and 50 over.
The game swung back and fore but the big knock from Stokes shows he is the man who thrives under big game pressure.
Curran was later named both player of the match and tournament.
