Senator Aishatu Binani has won the Adamawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Primary.
Senator Binani achieved this feat at the expense of two heavyweights- former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss, Nuhu Ribadu and former Governor Umaru Jubrilla Bindo, to pick the coveted ticket.
She scored 430 votes to defeat her closest contestant, Ribadu, who polled 288 votes.
The Senator who represents Adamawa Central Constituency in the Nigerian Senate, is among the first female governorship aspirants, and will also be aiming to become the first elected female Governor in Nigeria’s history.
Earlier, incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had clinched the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to the polls next year.
