Suspected hoodlums on Tuesday burnt down parts of the Federal High Court, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
In the latest attack which happened in the early hours of Tuesday, two security guards sustained injuries, as the court library was badly burnt, while the security post was badly damaged.
The hoodlums had scaled the court perimeter fence to gain entrance, after which they used petrol bomb to initiate the fire.
Few hours after the attack, a detachment of policemen with three patrol vehicles had positioned at strategic places.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Spokesman, DSP Loveth Odah, said the hoodlums came in large numbers, adding that fire fighters swiftly intervened and put out the fire.
“Hoodlums came in their large number and set a section of the court ablaze, but fire fighters promptly came and quenched the fire, “she said.
Meanwhile, the attack has caused panic and forced security agents to be on alert.
There has been recent uprising against government and government establishments in the South-Eastern region of the country.
