The Super Falcons of Nigeria have emerged victorious against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa with an aggregate score of 1-0 in the final leg of the 2024 Olympics qualifier.
Nigeria secured the ticket in Pretoria after holding on to their first leg victory in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Falcons kept a clean sheet and secured a historic victory after a 16-year drought.
In France, they are drawn in a tough-looking first round group that has world champions Spain, Japan and Brazil.
Tuesday’s game was a game of two halves – Nigeria controlled the first period missing several chances while the home team were a lot more dangerous after the break as they chased for a go-ahead goal.

Nigeria kicked off this second leg and it was not long before striker Chinwendu Ihezuo header connected a cross from Ajibade only for South Africa goalkeeper Kylan Swart to hold firmly.
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie of the Super Falcons was the hero of the day and produced several superlative saves to keep the South Africans at bay.
Substitute Toni Payne brought a new energy to Nigeria with her drives through the midfield.
In the closing minutes, Asisat Oshoala came on for the hard-running Ihezuo.
The 2024 Olympics is scheduled between July and August.
