Two outstanding Nigerians – Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have both emerged the best footballers in Africa.
While Osimhen was picked as Men footballer of the year, Oshoala won best Women’s CAF award for the sixth record time.
This is the first time in 24 years that Nigeria produced best footballers in the men and women categories of the CAF highest individual awards.
The last time being in 1999 when Nwankwo Kanu and Mercy Akide clinched the diadem the same year.
Osimhen, Napoli’s goal king squared up against Liverpool and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, as well as Morocco and PSG’s defender, Achraf Hakimi before emerging tops.
He has now become the first player to win the prize at both youth and senior levels.
Also, Oshoala is the first to win it six times.caf.
