Former Anambra State Governor and presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party of Nigeria for the 2023 elections.
Obi was elected unopposed on Monday, during the party’s National Convention, held in Asaba, Delta State.
He emerged the party’s presidential candidate, after Prof. Pat Utomi and other aspirants stepped down to endorse Obi who had earlier decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Prof. Utomi, a political economist and management expert, announced that he was stepping down for the former Anambra State governor at the party’s presidential primary.
“Obi must be given the opportunity to govern this country,” Utomi said.
