Personnel of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday prevented prominent Yoruba Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as ‘Sunday Igboho’, from gaining entrance into the Igangan forest in Ibarapa North Local Government of Oyo State, to trail killer herdsmen.
Igboho had paid a visit to Igangan on Monday, a day after the town was assaulted by Fulani herdsmen, to assess the extent of the damage caused by the attack.
During his visit, Igboho and his boys attempted to explore the forest for the killer herders, but faced resistance from a team of heavily armed soldiers who were trailing his convoy as soon as they got in town, and stopped him from entering the forest.
The suspected Fulani herdsmen had attacked Idiyan, a village near Igangan, killing many including a 28-year-old farmer from Benin Republic.
The farmer identified as Kaptain Kaston, was shot by herdsmen near his farm on the shoulder, and was also reportedly inflicted with machete injuries on parts of his body.
