Hours after losing to struggling West Ham United in Sunday’s Premier League clash, Eric ten Hag has been dismissed as Manchester United Manager.
His sack also followed the club’s dismal start to 2024/25 football season.
This was confirmed by the club via its website in a statement on Monday afternoon.
Part of the statement reads, “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.
“Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
Immediately, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been drafted to take charge of proceedings in the interim.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited,” the club statement added.
Manchester United are currently 14th on the EPL table, after posting only three victories so far in the ongoing season.
