Former Lagos State Governor and Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has clinched the party’s Presidential ticket with 1,271 votes, defeating his two closest opponents by a landslide margin.
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi came second with 316 votes, followed by the incumbent Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo who polled 235 votes.
Senate President Ahmed Lawan polled 152 votes, while Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello carted home 47 votes. Ebonyi’s Dave Umahi raked in 38 votes, as Cross River’s Ben Ayade clinched 37 votes.
Other are former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu 1 vote, former Minister of State for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba 1 vote, Ahmed Sani Yerima 4 votes.
Pastor Tunde Bakare got 0 vote, former Imo Governor 0 vote, Kingsley Mokelu 0.
With the result, Tinubu will now square up against PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and others in February next year.
