Zambia’s foremost Presdient, Kenneth Kaunda, has died aged 97.
His death was officially announced in the country’s capital, Lusaka, on Thursday.
Kaunda, also popularly known as KK, served as the first President of Zambia from 1964 to 1991.
Heritage Times had reported that Zambian Government on Monday announced that Kaunda was critically ill.
The announcement which was conveyed in a letter signed by the Administrative Assistant, Rodrick Ngolo, revealed that the former Zambian leader was admitted in a hospital at Maina Soko Medical centre.
