The number of Covid-19 cases in Nigeria recorded a drastic shoot on Tuesday with the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, setting a new national record.
Out of the 758 new cases recorded 18 states and the FCT, Abuja had 305 the highest to have been posted by any state in Nigeria.
Lagos and Kaduna recording above 100 cases.
While Lagos raked in 152 fresh cases, Bauchi recorded 44 cases, Gombe had 35 cases while Kaduna posted 103 cases.
Consequently, Kaduna State Government has announced the closure of schools across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Makarfi directed all schools in the state to close as from Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
According to him, the rising cases of COVID-19 showed a replicate of figures recorded in the first wave of the pandemic in April, May and June 2020, indicating that a new wave of the infection is rapidly spreading across the state.
He added that physical classes in the universities and other institutions of higher learning would not be held during the period of closure.
