The Kaduna State Government has confirmed the attack on the convoy of the Emir of Birnin Gwari by suspected armed bandits.
The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan confirmed the attack in a statement issued in Kaduna.
He however noted that the emir was not in the vehicle when it was attacked, adding that no life was lost.
“According to the reports, on Monday March 15, at about 4:30PM, the official vehicle of the Emir of Birnin Gwari was shot at by bandits around the Zonkoro axis of the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, within Chikun local government area.
“Only the driver, Umar Jibrin, and an Orderly, Inspector Sani Yahaya, were in the vehicle, on their way to Kaduna. The Emir was in Kaduna at the time of the attack.
“No life was lost, and the Emirate Council relayed details of the incident to the Kaduna State Government,” he added.
Meanwhile, the commissioner said some armed robbers who barricaded a bridge leading to Kitansa village in Kajuru LGA, had shot one person dead and injured another.
