England captain Harry Kane has continued in his sensational display at his new club Bayern Munich, after he moved from the Premier League to the Bundesliga in Germany.
Saturday’s league match was no exception as he netted his first hat-trick in the Bundesliga, as Bayern Munich reclaimed their place at the summit.
That was after they comfortably hammered new comers VfL Bochum 7-0.
Bayern No Mercy Show
From the opening whistle, Bayern showed no mercy to their visitors. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, undaunted by a missed header just a minute into the match, swiftly redeemed himself by latching onto Kingsley Coman’s precise low cross to break the deadlock. It was an electric start for the Bavarians.
Kane, the marquee summer signing for Bayern, then made his presence felt.
His clinical finish inside the near post, following a fortunate deflection off Ivan Ordets, marked his second goal of the evening, sending memories of Bayern’s early-season 7-0 victories from the past two campaigns flashing through Bochum’s beleaguered defense.
Matthijs de Ligt, restored to the starting lineup, showcased his aerial prowess as he rose above everyone else in the box to powerfully head home Joshua Kimmich’s corner, extending Bayern’s lead to three goals before the half-hour mark.
Leroy Sané added to Bochum’s woes, converting a sublime deep ball from Harry Kane to make it 4-0.
As the second half unfolded, Bayern continued to dominate, with chances flowing relentlessly.
A penalty opportunity arose when Ivan Ordets handled the ball while blocking a shot, and Kane confidently dispatched his sixth goal of the season from the spot.
Young talent Mathys Tel was introduced by Thomas Tuchel, and 18-year-old Frans Krätzig, making his debut at left-back, came close to scoring but was thwarted by Bochum’s Manuel Riemann.
It was Kane once more, linking up with Noussair Mazraoui, who tapped in the seventh goal as the final whistle approached.
For Bochum, the match ended in despair, as they suffered a familiar fate of conceding seven goals to Bayern for the third consecutive year.
Meanwhile, Former Nigeria International Odion Ighalo has continued his scoring prowess in the Saudi Pro League as he netted his 5th goal of the new season for Al Wehdah.
Since arriving in the Arabian league, Ighalo has proven to be a real goal poacher, winning the top scorer award in the colours of Al Shabab and Al Hilal.
He moved to Al Wehdah and he has continued to be a strong force in the league.
Al Wehdah played against Abha, and it was Ighalo who sealed the game with the 4th goal as he helped his club to an emphatic 4-0 win.
