Tottenham secured their first win in four league games following a 2 – 0 victory over West Brom on Saturday to ease pressure on boss, Jose Mourinho.
Spurs witnessed a dip at form in recent weeks, having suffered two back-to-back home defeats against Brighton and Chelsea.
West Brom defended resiliently and kept Spurs at bay in the first half as both team settled for a goalless draw at half-time.
However, star striker Harry Kane, who has been on the sideline for two weeks due to an ankle injury he picked in Liverpool loss, opened scoring for the hosts in the 54th minute before Heung-min Son doubled four minutes later.
Diagne did get the ball in the back of the net twice for the visitors, but both were ruled out for offside.
The win moves Tottenham up to seventh and Mourinho’s side will face Manchester City next weekend in the league.
Before the clash with City, Spurs will turn their attentions to the FA Cup game against Everton in the mid-week.
Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce’s men are still battling relegation as they remain 19th, with 11 points from safety and next up for them is Manchester United.
