The Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) is in discussions to appoint former Manchester United assistant coach Benni McCarthy as the new head coach of the Harambee Stars.
According to reports, the South African ex-international has been in talks with FKF over the past few months, and it appears that the deal has now been agreed upon and is ready for finalisation.
However, delays in McCarthy’s official unveiling have been caused by FKF’s internal processes, as well as legal challenges from former coach Engin Firat, who is seeking unpaid dues.
Kenya is set to co-host the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) alongside Tanzania and Uganda, and the tournament is expected to be McCarthy’s first major assignment with the Harambee Stars.
The upcoming CHAN has now been rescheduled for August 2025 after it was postponed from February.
