President William Ruto of Kenya has asked business groups to borrow money from government initiatives that fund small-scale enterprises instead of organising fundraisers.
Ruto noted this on Sunday while speaking in Kajiado district, noting that there was enough money to assist businesses in the country.
“Organise your cooperatives. I have made a whole standalone ministry that will deal with issues to do with cooperatives and MSMEs and we have budgeted enough money for that work,” Ruto told the interdenominational congregation amid cheers.
President Ruto stressed that there was no need for fundraisers when there was enough money to borrow from the Kenya Kwanza government.
“I was requested to come and give during a cooperative’s Harambee. There is government money, why are we coming to do fund raisers. Organise your people, and we will give you money. We have money that you’ve been unable to borrow,” he said.
Also, President Ruto who lauded Kajiado resident for borrowing 800 million from the hustler fund and have paid back 71% advised the business community in the region to organise themselves and borrow loans from the hustler fund groups option as long as they pay it back because interest is low and no collateral is required.
