Gunmen who abducted the Paramount Ruler of Jaba Chiefdom, Kpop Ham, Dr Danladi Gyet Maude, in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have asked for a N100million ransom before they release him.
Danladi Gyet, who is believed to be the oldest traditional ruler in Northern Nigeria, was abducted on Monday by gunmen in his farm at Gitata community, Nasarawa State, a boundary between the two states.
The 83-year-old monarch was in the farm with his driver and a security guard but he was picked and whisked away by the gunmen leaving the two behind.
The Jaba Chiefdom shares border with the Gitata community in Nasarawa state where the chief’s farm was located.
A source from the Chiefdom told journalists on Tuesday, that the abductors had called the royal family on phone, asking for a N100 million ransom before they would release the first-class Chief.
The abduction of the monarch comes barely two weeks after bandits’ abducted the Emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu, alongside 13 other members of his family.
However, in less than 24 hours, Adamu regained his freedom from his abductors while other members of the family were held back by the kidnappers.
