Jurgen Klopp has reacted to reports linking Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah with a move away from Anfield, claiming the Egyptian is fully committed to the club in the long term.
Since the start of the 2020/21 season, there have been speculation surrounding the striker’s future with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly interested in his signature.
Salah raised eyebrows shortly before Christmas when he talked positively about the Spanish sides.
“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs,” Salah said. “Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again.”
Meanwhile, the Egyptian’s form has not been lowered by the uncertainties hovering around his future as he tops the Premier League scoring charts with 17 goals so far this term, and Klopp is confident that his danger man will remain at Anfield.
“It’s just a bit awkward when I have to praise my own players, which I like to do to be honest, but especially in Mo’s case, the numbers speak for themselves,” Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.
“Mo is not only a goalscorer, he has developed as a footballer as well. He is a very, very important player for us and hopefully he will be that for a very long time of course.”
The Reds will put behind them an injury plagued season, which has seen a number of their key players ruled out from crucial games, as they travel to Bramall lane to battle Sheffield United for an English Premier League fixture on Sunday.
