Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a new role as head of global soccer for Red Bull.
The appointment, according to his new employers, will start January 1, 2025.
After waving goodbye to Liverpool in May 2024, Klopp will now oversee Red Bull’s network of clubs, including RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, and Brazil’s Red Bull Bragantino.
In his new position, Klopp won’t be getting his famous touchline hugs, but he’ll be guiding the teams from the top. His job will involve shaping the strategic vision for the clubs, supporting their sporting directors, and mentoring coaches.
Speaking on the appointment, Red Bull’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff described Klopp as “one of the greatest and most influential figures in world soccer.”
While at Liverpool, Klopp won the UEFA Champions League and other coveted trophies.
