Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp has reaffirmed his confidence in Brazilian striker, Roberto Firmino who has only managed three goals this season for the Anfield giants.
The German, 54, said this in a post match press conference following Diogo Jota’s outstanding performance for Liverpool in last night’s Champions League game against Atalanta.
Firmino came off the bench in the 65th minutes of the encounter for Diogo Jotta who netted a hattrick for the Reds in a 5 – 0 thrashing of Atalanta as goals from Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah also ensured the visitors took the all important three points.
Owing to Jota’s scintillating performance for the Reds, the club’s faithful seems to be demanding for a tweak in the frontline which is definitely not in favour of the Brazilian.
However, Klopp reacting to a possible change to his regular attacking trio of Mane, Firmino and Salah in the coming fixtures said, “The world is sometimes a bad place,” he told his post-match press conference.
“That in the moment when somebody is shining, we immediately speak about another player who played what feels like 500 games in a row.
“Without Bobby Firmino, we would not be in the Champions League even. For a lot of people in the world, if you ask them ‘what makes Liverpool special?’ they would say ‘the way Bobby Firmino is playing’.
“For us it is important that we have more than 11. Tonight, Diogo played a super, super game but that says nothing about Bobby, and has nothing to do with me causing headaches,” Klopp said.
The 23-year-old Portuguese striker has now scored seven goals in his first 10 appearances for Liverpool since he joined Anfield this summer from Atlectico Madrid.
