The US president-elect Joe Biden has appointed Nigerian-born Funmi Olorunnipa Badejo as one of his legal advisers at the White House.
Mrs. Badejo’s appointment as Associate Counsel at the White House – official workplace of the U.S. president – was announced Monday by the incoming administration.
Born in Kogi to Nigerian immigrant Zachaeus Olorunnipa, Mrs. Badejo who identifies with Florida is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
Her legal career started as an associate with the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP and was Legal Counsel at Palantir Technologies Inc.
Mrs Badejo, who married another Nigeria Tunde Badejo, is from Kogi state, and she is an alumnus of Berkeley Law College in the United States.
Olorunnipa Badejo lives in Washington D.C. with her husband and son, according to her information on the Biden-Harris transition website.
People of colour also announced in Biden’s White House legal team include Samiyyah Ali who was appointed deputy associate counsel, Tona Boyd as special counsel and Megan Ceronsky as associate counsel.
