A warehouse filled with COVID-19 palliatives have been discovered by of residents in Lagos who on Thursday, began carting away the food items stacked in the warehouse located at Monkey Village, Maza maza, in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos state.
The food items, which were labelled ‘CACOVID, NOT FOR SALE,’ include bags of rice, macaroni, spaghetti, salt, garri, sugar and cartons of noodles.
CACOVID (Coalition Against COVID-19), launched in March this year, is a private sector-led organisation established to assist the government in combating the coronavirus disease.
In a video that surfaced online, people where seen carry bags of food items as they struggled to pass through the crowd of people already gathered at the warehouse.
A resident was heard in the video saying “We have been coming here since morning and the food has not finished, the warehouse is fully loaded”
While some others lamented saying “this food was meant for Nigerians during the COVID-19 lock down, Nigerians were dying of hunger while food was locked up here”
