Ever wondered what the relationship between late football icon Diego Maradona and Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho would look like?
Well, it appears that a leaked conversation between the duo just gave an insight into how well the two got on.
The footballing world was thrown into an awful state following the death of soccer legend Maradona.
Maradona enjoyed successful spells in Europe; during his active years. And is widely regarded the one of the greatest footballers that ever thread the earth.
Upon his demise, tributes have continued to pour in from across the globe and Mourinho was among those to pay last respect to the legendary Argentinean ahead of his side’s match against Chelsea on Sunday.
Speaking about the private side of the man, Mourinho said: “Then there’s Diego the guy. That one, I miss. I feel sorry that I didn’t spend more time with him, I would have loved to.
“I think his family, his friends and colleagues are very privileged to know him well and spend time with him.
“But I will miss Diego, and I am very sad but I have a smile because with him, every minute I spent with him was to laugh.”
According to Daily Mirror, a footage released by Spanish outlet, Marca showed that the two men enjoyed each others company.
The video shows Maradona and Mourinho speaking in Spanish in 2010 at Madrid’s training ground while Mourinho was in charge of Los Blancos.
Both men were seen sitting in the dugout, and conversation turns to Maradona’s playing days.
As common with the Argentine owing to his vociferous nature, he was heard saying: “I tried my hardest, busting my a***, and when I passed it to my teammate they would often miss the target.”
Mourinho responds by joking: “The thing is, to play in a team you know that if you shoot, you score. Another thing is to pass to a teammate, and you don’t know if they will (score).”
The pair had burst into laughter, and later in the interview, embraced each other in with the Portuguese kissing Maradona on the cheek.
