For everyone, there is always a personality behind the physical frame we see —more like the Clark Kent and Superman face swipe.
Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, fits a perfect example for the above assertion.
Everyone knows the 35 – year – old is a confident individual aside from his sheer drive to win games for his team.
Family, fashion and philanthropy; in that order, summarizes Ronaldo’s life outside his illustrious career and striking achievements.
However, his former team mate, Patrice Evra had in 2019 given the world an insight into just how confident the Portuguese is – and with very good reason.
The second leg fixture of the Champions League last -16 clash between Juventus and Atlectico Madrid in March of that year brought to mind the conversation the duo had on WhatsApp.
Juventus had had lost the first leg of the tie 2-0, meaning the Italian club had it all to do in front of their home fans in Turin.
The Portuguese had arrived Juventus in the summer with same spirited performance that saw Real Madrid won the Champions League thrice in a row.
Thus, the Serie A giants pulled off an unlikely comeback, with Ronaldo bagging a hat-trick to send Juventus straight into the quarter final.
Shortly after the game, Evra took to social media to share a screenshot of his chat with Ronaldo before the match showing how much confidence the Portuguese had in his ability.
The screenshot shows Evra – who also played for Juventus – started the conversation by saying: “Bro I’m counting on you for the Champions League return!!!
“I never doubted about you!! And people kill me every time you lose of Juventus.”
Ronaldo responded: “I know. We gonna pass bro. Home we smash them,” to which Evra replied: “Exactly!!!!! Viva Ronaldo.”
The Portuguese then sent a picture of himself to Evra
To which Evra concluded: “My bro [a selection of emojis] feel the confidence.”
Alongside the post on Instagram Evra wrote: “Behind the scenes… these are messages between me and Ronaldo five days before the massive comeback!!!
“This just shows you the confidence, the anger, the determination from the best player in the world. We should thank cricri mummy and daddy and of course god for giving to us that nice man and unbelievable player.
“So please don’t be jealous I just wanna share and if you don’t agree I can’t do anything for you… enjoy your life but you have to recognise he is simply the best of the best and don’t try to tap the screen for his number.”
