Robert Lewandowski has surpassed Gerd Muller’s goal scoring record in a single Bundesliga season as Bayern Munich sealed a 5-2 win over Ausburg in the final game of the season.
The Polish striker had matched Muller’s effort last weekend after he netted his 40th goal of another impressive campaign.
Lewandowski scored in the 90th minute for the Bavarians as they recorded a ninth successive title triumph in style.
Lewandowski’s strike, his 48th of the season in all competitions, which saw him edge above the mark set by Bayern legend Muller back in 1971-72.

The prolific forward has now raised that bar higher than anyone before him, with the 32-year-old maintaining remarkable standards in record-breaking style.
Bayern’s attention will now turn to the next campaign. With Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment confirmed, the Bavarians will be eyeing similar success next season.
