The long awaited heavyweights clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is in the throes of being put on until December after the Gypsy King declared himself ready for a trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder in the new Allegiant Stadium on July 24.
Barely 24 hours after Fury confirmed that the fight between him and fellow Brit Joshua would be staged in Saudi Arabia on 14 August, the 32-year-old has now been told he must first undertake a third fight against Wilder.
An arbitrator in the US has reportedly upheld Wilder’s claim that he is contractually due for another meeting with Fury, whom he lost the WBC world title to in February last year. The Judge ruled that the bout must take place before 15 September this year.
Though, seems the American is ready to allow the fight with Joshua go ahead only if a compensation fee of £14m is paid to Wilder.
But Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum set against paying Wilder massive step aside compensation to enable the August 14 date. Thus, makes a rematch between Fury and Wilder inevitable.
Fury on his part, has declared himself ‘willing to fight anybody the promoters put in front, ‘including Wilder.
Following the announcement of the arbitrator’s decision, Fury posted on his Instagram story with a message across a background photo of Wilder with new trainer Malik Scott.
“What a joke bronzebomber has become. Asked for 20 million to move over joker,” Fury wrote in the post. “Looks like I have to crack his skull again.”
