The Malian army has neutralised 23 terrorists in the south-central Mopti Region over the past two days, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.
The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) carried out an operation in Doro village, Mopti Region, on Monday, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists and the seizure of weapons and equipment, the statement said.
Earlier, air forces targeted Berdosso village near Badiangara town, also in the Mopti Region, killing 20 terrorists, the statement added.
Additionally, two terrorist trucks carrying logistical equipment were destroyed in the northern Timbuktu region on the same day, the army reported.
The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorist groups, emphasising the current disarray among these groups.
While the army’s statement did not specify the terrorist groups involved in the operations, various militant and separatist factions, which have recently formed an alliance, remain active in different regions.
Meanwhile, last year, five armed separatist groups announced the formation of the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA), advocating for the independence of northern Mali.
The Malian government designates these groups, along with the al-Qaida-affiliated Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) and the Macina Liberation Front (FLM), as terrorist organisations.
