Ivory Coast international Amad Diallo has continued to make his mark for Manchester United with a hat-trick performance that secured the club’s 3-1 win over a below-par Southampton in the English Premier League (EPL).
It took Amad just 12 minutes to deliver his hat-trick and save Manchester United’s blushes at Old Trafford, rescuing Ruben Amorim’s side from a fourth straight league defeat at home.
United were trailing 0-1 before the man of the moment equalised in the 82nd minute, put United ahead eight minutes later, and rounded off in style with a third goal deep into stoppage time.
It was cruel luck for a Saints side battling to avoid finishing the season as the worst team in Premier League history.
Before Thursday night, United had secured a morale-boosting FA Cup win at Arsenal on Sunday, which followed a battling 2-2 draw at league leaders Liverpool.
At Old Trafford, Southampton, seeking to regain their confidence after picking up only one win since the season began, remain at the bottom of the league.
With the victory, the Red Devils have now moved up to 12th position on the log.
