After facing defeats in the past days, Manchester United bounced back to victory on Saturday as they narrowly beat Fulham 1-0 in one of the matches decided in the English Premier League at Craven Cottage.
It took a late dramatic strike by captain Bruno Fernandes before the Red Devils roared to a much needed victory.
The win also eased piling pressure on coach Erik ten Hag.
During the heated encounter, two Nigerian internationals – Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were in action.
Both lads were named in the starting lineup for their club side.
Pep Men Go Goal ‘Gaga’
Later on, Manchester City swept to the top of the League after thrashing Bournemouth 6-1 at Etihad stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side ripped Bournemouth apart with three goals in seven minutes late in the first half.
However, Guardiola will be sweating on Haaland’s fitness after the Norway striker was forced off at half-time following a first-half knock.
Haaland could be absent when City face Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday and Chelsea in the Premier League next weekend.
The international break after the trip to Stamford Bridge would offer Haaland a chance to recover without missing any further matches for his club.
City have won each of their last 14 meetings with Bournemouth in all competitions, with the Cherries still waiting for their first ever victory against the Manchester club after 20 unsuccessful attempts.
City have now won every home game in all competitions in 2023 and sit one point clear of Tottenham.
Spurs will regain top spot if they beat Chelsea on Monday.
Late Saturday night, Arsenal succumbed to Newcastle defeat.
